Briana's Notes:
Naked is indeed in fasion with the Duendo. While it does vary on the region and tribe, Duendo tend to dress very lightly. They are, after all, tribal and in very, very hot regions. Generally, the children are naked and bald until about age 10, when they start wearing clothes and growing hair.
Hair is symbollic to a Duendo's role in life: The red dye of men represents the blood they must spill as warriors/hunters; the golden yellow of women's hair represents the sun, which, like women, is a life-giver. Because hair is associated with adulthood, children are shaved bald. They grow their hair out at age 10-12 because it represents them reaching adulthood, and also so they actually have something to dye when they have their coming-of-age, usually around age 12-15. Note that coming-of-age does
NOT equal marrying age to the Duendo - young, unwed adults have different roles than married ones, and very few Duendo tribes allow their members to marry before age 17-18.
