Briana's Notes:
The white marks on Diyero's skin here is just body paint to be used as a guideline for the tattooist. Most Duendo tribes tattoo their members by lining bone needles against the skin and then using a hammer to strike the needle down, breaking the skin. There are different shapes and sizes of tools for different kinds of cuts the tattooist needs to make. After the skin is broken, the tattooist rubs the ink into the wound. To prevent infection, Duendai clean up the cuts as they work along.
Normally, this procedure would take days or weeks to complete to allow the body time to heal in between sessions; however, Duendo generally keep a shaman on hand to heal the tattoo wounds bit by bit as the tattooist finishes each section. This enables the process to go by much faster, though it is still a long and painful process.
